Food Photography - Fruit
I have been taking a food photography class with mostly Advertising Photography majors this quarter to wind down my career at RIT. I have not spent much time in the studio, so this has been a great opportunity to work with subjects, composition and light in a controlled situation.
Sometimes RIT’s structured majors within photography can be somewhat detrimental because we are encouraged to take electives within our major. It also provokes surprise with my classmates that have deemed me as only a photojournalist when I come out of a studio or ask for a lighting kit at the cage. Rarely a photographer is only one label: fine art, photojournalism or advertising. I’m trying to bridge some gaps in my education and experience and hopefully will help me in other aspects of photography. Wish I would have done more of this sooner.
What’s the best is that food doesn’t have anywhere else to be.
